Water Street Brewpub

Water Street Brewpub

Water Street BrewpubOn my quest to drink great Wisconsin craft beer I have came across a gem in the great city of Milwaukee. The Water Street Brewpub.

I first started going to the Water Street Brewpub in the mid 2000’s when I was looking for a new place to drink some beer before a Milwaukee Brewers game.

We had some time to kill before we were to meet our friends to tailgate for the game. Was driving down Water street and spotted it while waiting for a traffic light. Miraculously we found parking right by the building for the Water Street Brewpub.

When we walked in I felt at home right away. Nice looking bar and an easy to read and current beer list. I decided on the Bavarian Weiss and was very happy I did so. After all, it is my favorite style of beer hands down. Was not disappointed and was hooked right away.

Their version of a Bavarian Weiss beer has a wonderful bright orange color and pretty cloudy. Vibrant nose and very, very fresh with aromas of banana and cloves.

This beer has held up over time and it still tastes as good as it did today as the first time I tried it many years ago. Nice work from the Water Street Brewery.

One of my favorite Bavarian Weiss beers that I have had from Wisconsin and I highly recommend this beer to anyone who enjoys a German style wheat beer.

After a couple of these wheat beers I got a bit hungry and split the shrimp pasta dish with a side order of the baby red stuffed potatoes. They always do a great job with their food and this time was no different. Tasty food that was cooked properly, using quality ingredients.

Check out the Water Street Brewpub at their flagship location in Milwaukee and their charter brewpubs in Grafton and the Lake County area. Otherwise known as Delafield.

Come Back In Happy Hour

Come Back In Happy HourThe Come Back In Happy Hour is one of my favorite spots to drink craft beer after a hard days work.

I have been drinking Wisconsin craft beer at this downtown Madison bar for quite some time. Many years to be almost exact.

Come Back In Happy Hour

There are many reasons why drinking Wisconsin craft beer at the Come Back In Happy Hour. Starting with the $4.50 beer prices during Happy Hour. Which is an incredible bargain for a half liter of Import or Wisconsin craft beer.

Another reason I enjoy the Come Back In Happy Hour is the great service from the staff. They are quick to get you a beer or suggest a new one for you to try. Bartenders here also provide great food service so you are never hungry for long. Great bar food menu and FREE peanuts and popcorn with beer purchase.

The Come Back In has 26 taps of great craft beer, with many of them Wisconsin craft beer. From Spotted Cow and Hopaliscous to Paulaner to Bells. Plenty of beer to drink with great food to go with it.

Great Dane Brew Pub

Wisconsin Craft Brew Pubs-Great DaneI was fortunate enough to get to the Great Dane Brew Pub on the East side of Madison for St Patrick’s day this year.

We were joined by some close friends who enjoy drinking  great Wisconsin craft beer.

Great Dane Brew Pub

Great Dane Brew PubThe Great Dane Brew Pub has been my favorite Wisconsin brew pub for many years. For many good reasons.

The main reason is the wonderful Crop Circle Wheat, a Wisconsin craft beer that I have been enjoying since the late 1990’s.

Since this visit to the Great Dane Brew Pub was on St. Patrick’s day, the normally cloudy, bright orange color of the Crop Circle Wheat was festively colored green. Which seemed really strange, but it did not affect the taste of this popular Wisconsin craft beer.

The staff and the bartenders at the Great Dane East are always  on their game and tonight was no exception. Even thought it was a holiday night they were very quick to get us another beer and get our food order to us fast.

We had the German Pilsner, a Black and Tan and the Crop Circle Wheat while we were there. All of the beers tasted great, a testament to their clean tap lines.

I was very happy that the Great Dane Brew Pub decided to establish an East side location. Their Downtown location is great and is their flagship but getting back the East side was not the easiest thing to do sometimes. Much cheaper cab ride home now!

If you are looking for some original Wisconsin craft beer in a unique Wisconsin craft brew pub setting the Great Dane Brew Pub is a perfect choice.

Great Wisconsin craft beer, attentive staff and hearty food make this place one of my favorite places to drink craft beer in Madison. Try the Friday Fish Fry for a traditional Wisconsin experience.

Great Midwest Beer Festival – Madison Wisconsin

A little late posting this, but better late than never. A great time was had again in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin this past August at the annual Great Taste of the Midwest.

The weather cooperated with us with blue skies and warm, but not hot temperatures. Got in line early, snagged a spot in the shade and waited my turn to get in the gates. As a side note, I work indirectly for a brewery that is at the event and could have, by all rights got in an hour early and got a head start on the masses.

As for the beer, I stuck to mostly wheat and white beers. Why? Because that is what I like. Some beers of note were from Fitgers, Grays, Ale Asylum, Great Dane, Water Street Brew Pub, Lake Louie and the New Glarus Brewing company.
